We departed for Kumarakom in the early morning hours. The backwaters justified the city’s popular tag: ‘the Venice in the East’ as we were blessed with a pure blissful journey through a boat ride. The ride was a four-hour long experience of heavenliness on a boat named ‘Rudra’. Each frame was an oil painting, you know, stolen directly from a painter’s muse! The lake was full of varieties of vegetation, flowers and birds. At times, there would be aquatic plants floating all around the boat and we would feel like we were cruising through grasslands. I was afraid of blinking my eyes, for there was much to savor! The water was dancing a motionless dance, and the lotus was dancing with it!
